The Adaptation Game · Northland

Prepare for climate change in your Northland town.

The Adaptation Game isn't like Monopoly. It's a facilitated, cooperative experience — a platform for a community conversation about the next ten years. Northland's edition uses climate risk scenarios built for this region, developed alongside Northland Regional Council.

What you walk away with

Local, not generic

Scenarios are customised to Northland, so you're working through risks that could actually reach your town.

Decide together

Players take on roles and work through ten simulated years, making choices and trade-offs as a community.

Open to everyone

No gaming expertise needed. It's built to be accessible, with a facilitator guiding the table.

How it works

  1. Tell us where in Northland you are and who you'd gather.
  2. We'll match you with a session, or with others nearby.
  3. We bring the game and facilitate. You bring the local knowledge.

There are no fixed dates. This is an invitation: it's built around you, most often in a living room. If enough people register in one area, we'll open a shared session there.
